The Members of Parliament exercised their authority by beating the Judiciary to claim victory in the curtain raiser of the 2025 Democracy Cup.
It was all fun at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday afternoon as the two sides of the policymaking house took on each other in the second edition of the Democracy Cup aimed at fostering togetherness and promoting democracy.
Hon. Stephen Amoah, Hon. Vincent Assifuah, Hon. Jerry Shaibu featured alongside 2006 FIFA World Cup goalscorer Haminu Dramani for the Members of Parliament as President John Dramani Mahama watched on from the stands.
Led by a former World Cup-winning player, Emmanuel Agyeman Badu, the Members of Parliament took the lead in the first half of the end-to-end encounter.
The Judiciary resorted to parity through a deflected strike from former Hearts of Oak captain Amankwah Mireku minutes into the second half, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
Following a series of comical misses and fortuitous goals, the Members of Parliament finally emerged as the winners of the 2025 Democracy Cup.
