156 new coronavirus cases has been recorded in Ghana bringing the national tally to 6,964.
The number of coronavirus cases stood at 6,808, however, the Ghana Health Service (GHS), at a press briefing at the Ministry of Information on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, announced new cases in 5 out of the 16 regions in the country.
During the press briefing, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, Director-General of the GHS, said that Western Region, which has recorded 57 new coronavirus cases, was fast becoming the new hotspot for the disease.
“As of 24th May 2020 a total of about 156 new cases have been recorded in Ghana and this goes to show the new trend of showing much fewer cases”, he disclosed.
As at now, Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen to 6,964 cases.
2,097 of persons who got infected with the virus, meanwhile, have also recovered from the disease.
Regional breakdown
The Greater Accra Region is still leading the chart with 4,908 cases, followed by the Ashanti and Western Regions with 1,066 and 334 cases respectively.
