Ibrahim Tanko, a former assistant coach of the Black Stars, has pushed the current technical team to think about using Mohammed Kudus as a “false nine” in games during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Ajax frequently uses Kudus, who is more of an offensive midfielder, as a false striker. He has scored 5 goals in his last 4 games for Ajax thanks to his new position on the Dutch team.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko claimed in an interview with an Accra-based TV station that Kudus had changed from an attacking midfielder to a striker and should be given the opportunity to play in that position for the Black Stars.
“Kudus is a very talented player he can play most of the positions if you pair him with a holding midfielder, he can play as a number 8 or striking,” the coach said.
He added, “the technical team has a plan so let’s hope that all the boys will stay fit so the technical team will have options to select from. It’s one of the options the technical team can look at.”
Mohammed Kudus has been selected for Ghana’s team to play Brazil and Nicaragua in forthcoming international friendlies on September 23 and 27, respectively.
