Vienna —
Carney Chukwumeka is set to face the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly after switching nationality.
The 22-year-old decided to represent Austria after accepting that his chances for playing for the Three Lions of England had become limited.
Austria will take on Ghana in a pre-World Cup preparational game at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium.
Born in Austria to Nigerian parents before moving to England as a child, he played key roles for the under-17, U18, U19 and U20 teams.
Now he will be included in Ralf Rangnick’s squad to face Ghana and South Korea in friendlies on March 27 and March 31.
