Call for Probe into Ministry of Youth and Sports Over GH₵486 Million Debt

Date:

Solomon Nkansah, a Communicator for the Movement for Change, has called for an investigation by the Mahama administration’s anti-corruption team, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), into the Ministry of Youth and Sports over an alleged GH₵486 million debt.

Nkansah accused the ministry of mishandling the $250 million allocated for hosting the All-African Games, alleging that the funds were not properly accounted for.

Speaking on TV3, he revealed that his team had petitioned the Special Prosecutor’s office to audit the ministry’s expenditure but received no meaningful response.

“I’ve heard the Ministry of Youth and Sports owes about GH₵486 million. Wasn’t it the same ministry that spent nearly $250 million on the All-African Games? We petitioned the Special Prosecutor about how those funds were used,” Nkansah stated.

He specifically highlighted concerns over $16 million spent on renovating hostels at the University of Ghana, claiming the work was subpar, and questioned the $15 million reportedly spent on catering services during the games.

Nkansah called on the ORAL team, led by MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure accountability.
