#BlackStarsAbroad: Semenyo strike not enough as Arsenal win on penalties

Date:

Antoine Semenyo’s goal for Bournemouth was not enough to prevent his side from losing 5-4 to Thomas Partey’s Arsenal in a penalty shootout in an international club friendly at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles, USA.

Ghana captain Partey started the game for the Gunners as his international replaced Dominic Solanke in the second half as they prepared ahead of the 2024–25 season.

Arsenal FC, led by manager Mikel Arteta, are looking to beat Manchester City to the English Premier League after coming so close to it in the 2023–24 season, losing by just two points.

The match headed into a penalty shootout after Fabio Viera’s 18th-minute goal was cancelled out by the Black Stars striker in the 73rd minute.

Ryan Christie’s attempt was saved by Estonian keeper Karl Hein, ensuring Arsenal emerged as winners.
