#BlackStarlets: Laryea Kingston says sorry to GFA

Date:

Laryea Kingston has issued a public apology to the Ghana Football Association and the Exco following his decision to leave his post as head coach of the men’s national under-17 side.

Last weekend saw former head coach of the Black Starlets of Ghana, Laryea Kingston, in the top trends after he stunned Ghanaians at the post-match presser after failing to qualify for the U-17 AFCON on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

The unexpected action of Kingston, 43, resulted in endless conversations on social media and local media outlets, drawing a stern response from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

The press release from the GFA highlighted the former Ghanaian international’s misconduct following his public announcement and duly accepted his resignation.

He admitted in a press release that he could have “handled things better” and will learn from his misguided approach, as he also expressed his apologies to the President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku.

“To the President and the Exco, I also want to unreservedly and sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding, inconvenience, embarrassment, and embarrassment my decision to announe resignation last Saturday caused.

After careful consideration, I could have handled things better, and this will be a guiding experience for me going forward.”
