Ben Fokuo, the head coach of the Black Princesses, is targeting victory in his team’s opening match against the USA at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
On August 11, Ghana will play the United States in their opening match at the Estadio Alejandro Morera, followed by games against the Netherlands and Japan.
From Wednesday, August 10, until Sunday, August 28, 2022, Costa Rica will host the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.
“Looking at our group, it is very difficult because of our opponents who are currently ahead of us. This is a new year and we know we can also compete and perform against them,” coach Fokuo said.
“We are really prepared to face our opponents. All the countries are strong and tough so we have to work hard.
He added: “My target is to win my first game against USA. If you win the first game it gives you a lot of motivation.”
In advance of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, head coach Ben Fokuo and his team left the country on Wednesday morning. On Friday, July 29, they will play the France National U-20 team.
Ghana will compete in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Costa Rica in August for a record-breaking sixth consecutive time.
