The two suspects arrested by the police in relation to the Berekum Chelsea team bus attack have admitted involvement in the attack and mentioned other accomplices who took part in the attack.
Mohammed Ahmed, alias “I Can Do”, the alleged gang leader, and another suspect, Bawa Gideon, attempted to flee and fired at the police during the operation. The police returned fire, which led to Ahmed sustaining gunshots and being taken to the hospital for treatment.
In a press release issued on 16th April, 2026, suspect Mohammed Ahmed confessed to the role in several robberies, including the Nkawie robbery, the Fufuso mobile money vendor attack, and the Berekum Chelsea FC team bus attack.
He further listed accomplices named Dauda, Huefe and A.T., who are currently on the run.
“The suspects Dauda, Huefe, and A.T. have been declared wanted, and the police are appealing to the public for information leading to their arrest,” the press release stated.
The police command hailed the officers for their efforts in detaining the suspects and also appreciated the public for their cooperation and support.
