Barcelona Suffer Big Blow

Date:

Barcelona has suffered an injury blow ahead of their La Liga clash with Oviedo on Thursday.

Oviedo will host the Blaugrana at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere on Thursday night.

However, ahead of the LaLiga encounter, Barcelona confirmed in a statement via their website on Tuesday that first-team player Gavi had an arthroscopy that was performed to resolve a medial meniscus injury he sustained.

The 21-year-old Spaniard will return to action for Barcelona after 4-5 months.

This means Gavi will miss over 18 matches for Barcelona, including matches against Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, Elche, Club Brugge, Real Sociedad, Girona and Real Madrid, in the coming months.

Gavi was promoted to the Barcelona senior team from the B team in 2021.
