Hearts of Oak shot stopper Benjamin Asare has become a source of motivation for his teammates.
Asare’s success story with the Black Stars of Ghana not only inspires locally based players but also the entire Hearts team.
According to the Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, Asare often encourages his club teammates to work hard to also receive call-ups to the Black Stars.
“He tells his teammates—if he can do it [playing for the Black Stars] while playing for Hearts of Oak, it means if they are given the opportunity, they can also do it,” Opare Addo revealed Asare’s motivational words.
Opare Addo added that though Asare’s brand through his representation of the Black Stars adds on to the Hearts brand, it was the brand of the club which first elevated him to where he is now.
Signed from Accra Great Olympics last season, Asare steadily gained the reputation of being the best Ghana Premier League goalkeeper before earning his first call-up to the Black Stars in March and making his debut against Chad in Accra.
The 33-year-old has kept post for the Black Stars throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers since the start of 2025.
