The Asamoah Gyan Foundation has successfully hosted a week long Tennis hunt tournament in Accra.
The initiative to discover raw talents as well as rising tennis stars, was held at the 37 Army Officers Mess with impressive crowd turnouts on six consecutive days.
Eventual winners Jeff Bagarbaseh (Men’s Category), Desmond Ayaba (Boys U-18) and Yvonne Bruce Tagoe (Women’s category) have been promised more outings in the coming weeks and months to keep them fit and competitive.
Gyan, who is the leading African World Cup scorer with six goals over three World Cup Finals, is renowned in his native Ghana for pushing through the development and promotion of sports other than football.
The collaboration with tennis stakeholders, corporate sponsors, NGO’s and media partners brought together a coalition of supporters including iMax Media (Max FM/TV and Online) G-Unit Tennis Club, Babolat Tennis and TECNO Mobile.
Other sponsors were IPMC, Kanzo Restaurant, Nii Plant Logistics, Royal Senchi, Cheezzy Pizza,Kleesoft and Paradise Pack.
The tournament which started on Monday 5th October climaxed on Saturday 10th October 2020.
