AL AHLY 3-0 MEDEAMA SC: Ghana’s champions whipped in Cairo

Date:

Egyptian champions Al Ahly’s strong second-half show saw Ghanaian champions Medeama SC fall to a 3-0 defeat in Cairo as they kicked off their title defense.

Evans Adotey’s men frustrated the reigning African champions with a hard defensive display, ending the first half goalless.

Al Ahly seemed to have figured out the Mauves and Yellow as they attacked relentlessly in the second half.

Kahraba’s opener in the 66th minute for Ahly was doubled by Hussein El Shahat nine minutes later, before Salah Mohsen sealed a convincing victory in the 88th minute.

This loss leaves Medeama SC with zero points in their debut season of the CAF Champions League as Al Ahly top the group.

Algerian champions CR Belouizdad secured a 3-0 win against Tanzanian side Yanga SC on Friday.

Medeama will host the Algerians, CR Belouizdad, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
