Five local players have reportedly been named by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton in the provisional squad that CAF has submitted for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition in Ivory Coast.
Three players have been named for Ghana’s only team competing in the 2023–34 CAF Champions League, Medeama SC. They are Felix Kyei, the goalkeeper, Jonathan Sowah, the striker, and Fatawu Hamidu, the left back.
Ibrahim Salifu of Accra Hearts of Oak and Richmond Lamptey of Asante Kotoko are the other two players that make up the five.
By January 3, the Black Stars coach is expected to submit to CAF his final 27-man squad for the AFCON.
