On Monday, November 27, Al-Nassr eliminated Persepolis from the AFC Champions League despite not scoring, but they still advanced to the next round.
The Knights of Najd have advanced early to the next round of Asia’s top club championship, along with three other clubs and the Pohang Steelers of South Korea.
With four straight victories under their belt in Group E, Al-Nassr came into the match hoping to continue their winning run against the Iranian champions at Al-Awwal Park.
Luis Castro’s team came out strong and dominated the first few minutes of the game, even overturning an early penalty that should have gone to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite this, a combined effort from Ronaldo and Otavio almost turned the scales in favor of Al-Nassr, as Ronaldo narrowly missed the goal after a clever move inside the box that the former FC Porto maestro orchestrated.
Persepolis kept striving, but they were unable to find the back of the net, therefore Al-Nassr managed to hold strong and go to the next round of the competition.
