#Accra2023: Nigeria stunned by Uganda in men’s football event

Date:

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are faced with the strenuous task of making it out of Group B of the men’s football event of the 13th African Games 2023.

Nigeria suffered a stunning late Ugandan goal, subjecting them to a disappointing 2-1 loss in their Group B opener at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday night.

Uganda took the lead in the 33rd minute of the first half through Usama Arafat, before Sadiq Isiyaka equalized before halftime.

Landan Basso’s boys were stunned by a long strike to claim the win for Uganda, as the struggle for cohesion from his team was very evident.

The Flying Eagles will look to regroup and recover to avoid an early exit from the games.
Lamine Sadio, in the other match played on Thursday, scored the winning goal for Senegal in a 1-0 win over South Sudan.
