Accra Tourist Information Centre Fire: GNFS Battles Blaze

Date:

The Accra Tourist Information Centre fire has sparked swift action from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), as firefighters work to contain the blaze and protect the iconic tourism facility.

A fire has gutted the Accra Tourist Information Centre, causing alarm among visitors and workers in the area. Although the exact time of the incident has not been confirmed, a video posted on the Facebook page of Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, captured thick plumes of smoke billowing from the building. The footage also showed visible panic as people tried to move to safety.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently at the scene, battling the flames and working to prevent further damage. The full extent of the destruction is yet to be determined, but officials confirm that there have been no casualties so far.

Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the area while investigations continue to determine the cause of the blaze. Updates are expected as officials assess the damage and the impact on tourism activities in the capital.
