Bataka Psar Harmonie has expressed pride and excitement about becoming the first Ghanaian to judge skateboarding at the 2026 Youth Olympics in Senegal.
The young Ghanaian sat on the Men’s Street judging panel as Judge 5, representing Ghana alongside judges from France, Brazil, Australia, the Netherlands and the United States.
As a skateboarder herself, Ghana Skate sent her to the United States and Paraguay for judging courses, and she worked her way up through World Skate’s system to get here.
Sharing some words after the event, the emotional Harmonie described her experience as ‘incredible’ and a ‘great honor’.
“Judging at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games has been an incredible experience and a great honour. Working alongside the best judges in the world is a moment I will always cherish”, she said.
“To young Ghanaians, keep your eyes open and stay aware of the opportunities available to you in your various fields. Don’t be afraid to apply. Put yourself out there and take up space”, she said as advice to young Ghanaians.
Ghana Skate, the official skateboarding body in Ghana, has also applauded Bataka Psar Harmonie for her historic achievement.
In an official statement, Ghana Skate said “Ghana Skate is proud to share that Harmonie Psar Bataka has been selected as an official skateboarding judge at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the first Olympic event ever held in Africa. She is the first Ghanaian judge to be picked for an Olympic Games event.”
Ghana Skate also implored the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Olympic Committee, to help more Ghanaian athletes and officials get this far through investments in skateboarding.
