Controversial singer Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, known in showbiz circles as Mzbel, has disclosed that her participation in political rallies and campaigns has affected her musical career.

‎According to her, she lost many shows and regretted ever joining hands with politicians.

‎Speaking in a recent media interview, the “16 years” hitmaker stated that she even lost more than half of her followers whilst campaigning for a political party.

‎She said after all her hard work, her interest was relegated to the background, and she had to spend extra money to pay those who she promised jobs to after her party came into power.

‎”I started to offer them money from my own sweat. As my business was booming, they thought the party had given me something, but that was not it. When everything was settled, I decided to voice out in interviews for them to be aware that I didn’t gain anything to even offer them help,” she added.

‎Mzbel’s confession had sparked debate online over how some musicians sell their brand to campaign for political parties during elections.

‎Though some musicians excel after publicly rallying behind a particular political party, some also struggle to rise up again.

‎It could be recalled that Mzbel campaigned for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 elections and previous elections and currently said she used to love the party, but she now regretted sacrificing her followers for such a campaign.
