The Senior Social Development of Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, Lydia Acheampomaah Dwomoh, has called on parents not to create division among their children by loving and hating some.
According to her, the act incites one child against the other and mostly leads to dispute, breaking of bonds, and in some cases, death, as some children go to the extent of killing their siblings for inheritance.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Novella Chat in Accra on Sunday, Dwomoh said parents should adopt a better parenting strategy in bringing up kids.
”You need to study the kids to know their character. While the extroverts’ characters are easy to predict, parents need more time and patience to know the complete character of the introverted ones. So, as a parent you need to be patient as part of your parenting strategy,” she said.
She urged parents to use a punishment and reward strategy in child upbringing, stressing that after punishing a child for wrong doings, the child should be given a gift for him or her to understand the wrong he or she did.
