Foreign Minister Surprises 85 Patients From North Tongu

Date:

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has paid the full medical bills of 85 residents from the North Tongu constituency who are currently on admission in eight health facilities across the Volta and Eastern Regions.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mr Ablakwa said the gesture was inspired by the Christian values of compassion and neighbourliness associated with the season.

The beneficiaries are all citizens of North Tongu receiving treatment in the following hospitals: Battor Catholic Hospital, St Anne’s Polyclinic at Tagadzi, Juapong Health Centre, VRA Hospital at Akosombo, Fodzoku Health Centre, Mafi Dedukope Health Centre, Mafi Adidome Health Centre, and Podoe Health Centre.

The Foreign Minister did not disclose the total cost of the settlement, but described the move as part of a sustained personal commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

“In the spirit of Easter, I have paid the full medical bills of all 85 beloved North Tongu constituents on admission in the following hospitals,” Mr Ablakwa said.

He extended wishes for a speedy recovery to all the patients and added, “May the teachings of Christ on compassion and being our neighbour’s keeper continue to undergird our leadership philosophy.”

Mr Ablakwa, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has previously intervened in healthcare and educational support for his constituents, including scholarship schemes and emergency medical assistance.
