E.K. Agyeman Mining Limited Group (EKAMLG) has inaugurated a four-bedroom teachers’ quarters at Manso-Nyamebekyere in the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region.
The project, executed as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility, is intended to provide a befitting accommodation for teachers teaching in the Manso-Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School.
EKAMLG is an award-winning Ghanaian small-scale mining company operating in the Ashanti Region, especially in the Amansie and Atwima Mponua districts, respectively.
The company focuses on gold mining, environmental protection, and local community development, including projects such as rural electrification and school construction.
Inaugurating the facility, the administrator, EKAMLG, Nana Yaw Owusu Brempong, extended his appreciation to the chiefs and people for being accommodating to his outfit in their operations in the communities, as well as making available land to facilitate the edifice.
He indicated that the project would ensure that teachers posted to the community have a conducive place to stay and not seek a transfer, saying “the absence of accommodation for teachers in deprived areas prevented them from accepting postings to such communities”.
He mentioned that the provision of the quarters would put an end to teachers living in far areas and commuting to school on a daily basis, adding that the project would also go a long way to enhance teaching and learning.
He further urged the community to take good care of the edifice by instituting a proper maintenance culture to ensure it did not deteriorate within the shortest possible time.
