UEFA Champions League Matchday 3 Goal-Fest

Date:

Round three of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League phase saw an avalanche of goals (43) being scored on Tuesday.

The biggest result of the night was PSG firing seven goals past Bayer Leverkusen away at the BayArena.

Willian Pacho, Désiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Ousmane Dembele, and Vitinha scored goals for PSG, while Aleix Garcia’s brace gave Bayer a two-goal lead.

Both sides were a man down by the end of the first half, which ended in a frantic manner as Doué and Kvaratskhelia scored after Illia Zabarnyi’s send-off.

Second biggest winners of the night, PSV, surprised Italian champions Napoli with a 6-2 win at the Philips Stadion.

Scott McTominay’s brace was not enough, as an own goal from Buongiorno and then goals from Saibari, Dennis Man, Pepi and Driouech subjected Napoli to one of their biggest ever defeats in the Champions League.

Viktor Gyökeres scored twice as Arsenal hammered Atletico Madrid 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Magalhães got the party started as Gabriel Martinelli followed with a goal of his shortly before the Sweden striker found the back of the net twice, leaving Diego Simeone stunned.

Barcelona outclassed Greek champions Olympiacos as Fermin Lopez scored a hat-trick, Marcus Rashford added a brace, and Lamin Yamal got one from the penalty spot in a 6-1 home rout.

Jose Mourinho’s Benfica continue to languish at the bottom of the pile after a 3-0 defeat to Eddie Howe’s Benfica at Tyneside. Harvey Barnes netted a brace after Anthony Gordon had given Newcastle the lead despite Benfica’s excellent start.

Last season’s runners-up, Inter Milan, travelled to Belgium to shut down Union Saint-Gilloise with an impressive 0-4 win as Denzel Dumfries, Lautaro Martinez, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Francesco Pio Esposito found the back of the net.

The competition’s newbies, FC Kairat and Pafos FC, played out to a boring goalless draw.
