Cape Verde Reach First-Ever World Cup

Date:

Cape Verde have made history by reaching the 2026 World Cup after winning their final qualifying match.

The Blue Sharks toppled African giant and favorite Cameroon to book their first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

The African side are the second smallest nation to ever reach the finals with a population of around 600,000.

Cape Verde secured their spot in the draw with a 3-0 win over Eswatini on Tuesday to top their group.

Dailon Livramento, Willy Semedo, and Stopira scored to send an expectant crowd in Praia in ecstasy at the final whistle.

Cameroon will now participate in the playoffs for a chance to reach the World Cup.
