The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) will reduce transport fares by 15% starting Saturday, May 25, 2025. The decision was reached after a meeting with the Minister of Transport.
GPRTU PRO Abbas Ibrahim Moro confirmed the move, citing an 18% drop in fuel prices as the reason.
“Though we usually apply a third of the fuel reduction, we opted for 15% to ease the burden on passengers,” he told 3news.
He urged the spare parts industry to also reduce prices and emphasized that the fare cut was made without waiting for other cost factors to drop.
Moro warned that any GPRTU member who fails to comply will face sanctions: “If your Union decides, you must comply.”
