Max TV has issued a public apology to singer Cina Soul following offensive comments made by Kumawood actor Big Akwes regarding her outfit in a recent music promo video.
In a video shared on X, Max Morning Entertainment Show presenter Akosua Takyiwaa expressed deep regret on behalf of the network, acknowledging the hurt caused by the actor’s remarks. “Big Akwes’ utterances didn’t sit well with some Ghanaians… we admit his comments were inappropriate, and we sincerely apologize,” she stated.
Takyiwaa further distanced the show from the remarks, emphasizing that the segment is meant to discuss stories—not to attack individuals. “Cina Soul, we are truly sorry. At some point, Big Akwes’ comments became personal, which is not what we do on this show. We talk about the story, not the person, and we regret that this happened.”
Big Akwes’ remarks immediately sparked widespread backlash on social media, with industry colleagues such as Efya, Sefa, and M.anifest rallying behind Cina Soul. They condemned his words as an unwarranted personal attack and defended the singer’s right to artistic expression.
