Controversial Kumawood actor Big Akwes has called on the government to reduce the cost of genetic tests in the country.
According to him, this will enable men to conduct paternity tests on the children they are raising.
Speaking in a zoom interview with Max TV morning show in Accra on Thursday, Big Akwes observed that the cost of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has hindered many men from raising biological children.
That, he noted, had swayed children from knowing and growing with their biological families while the children had the right to gain mutual support from their biological parents.
He stated that there were implications in raising children in a false environment and termed the act as paternity fraud.
Big Akwes said no man deserved to be lied to and raised children who were not blood related to them, thus, expressed worry about the development.
Citing Odartey Lamptey and many who fell victim to such a paternity fraud, Big Akwes emphasized the need for the government to reduce the cost involving the test.
“I also want to run a DNA test on my children so President John Dramani Mahama should reduce the cost of the test,” he added.
