Obour seeks support for MUSIGA

Date:

Veteran Hiplife musician, Obour says the current administration of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) needed financial assistance to help run the union in the right way.

According to him, giving MUSIGA mileage will help the union to work in the interest of the musicians.

Obour made this appeal during a phone interview with Max Drive in Accra on Friday.

“The current administration requires help. MUSIGA is a union and not a personal work of anyone so you’re not expecting anybody to use his or her pocket money to come and run the organization,” he said.

The “Konkotibaa” hitmaker emphasized the need for the industry to acknowledge that it needed representative organizations that could help channel musicians’ grievances across, hence had to support MUSIGA to develop.

“The industry as a whole must make a decision that this industry needs some gatekeepers and because of that let’s all make MUSIGA stronger so that the organization can make the gate stronger for all of us,” he stated.

Obour maintained that if stakeholders support MUSIGA and also media organizations give the union a mileage, it would help the organization to stand tall in the discharge of its duties.
