Government institutions must submit staff payroll records since Dec. 7

Date:

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has directed all heads of government institutions to submit detailed staff information for individuals added to their payrolls since Saturday, December 7, 2024.

This initiative is part of the John Mahama administration’s efforts to “ensure the accuracy and integrity of government payroll records.”

In a letter dated January 15, Mr. Debrah stressed the importance of the exercise, stating that “this information is critical for maintaining transparency and accountability in payroll management.”

Heads of institutions are required to provide the following details for each staff member added during the specified period:

  • Full Name
  • Designation/Job Title
  • Employee Identification Number (if applicable)
  • Date of Appointment
  • Date Added to Payroll

The requested data must be submitted to the Chief of Staff’s office by Friday, January 31, 2025. Mr. Debrah emphasized the importance of this exercise in addressing payroll inefficiencies and urged cooperation.

Institutions may seek clarification as needed, with support available throughout the process. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to eliminate ghost names and improve public sector financial management.

Stakeholders are urged to comply promptly to enhance payroll accuracy and prevent financial leakages.
