The Office of the President has announced the termination of board memberships for statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils following the swearing-in of President John Dramani Mahama.
This directive aligns with the provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).
A notice issued by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated that all appointees to these boards, commissions, and councils by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or his ministers ceased to hold office as of January 7, 2025, the date of President Mahama’s inauguration.
The statement clarified that reconstitution of these entities will occur in due course, in line with their respective enabling laws. “For the avoidance of doubt, this excludes commissions that are independent constitutional creations,” it added.
President Mahama extended his gratitude to the outgoing board members for their service to the nation and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Additionally, the notice directed the management of the affected statutory bodies to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any significant decisions, pending the reconstitution of their boards.
