2024-25 PL: Manchester City struggle against Everton

Date:

Pep Guardiola’s woes with Manchester City continued as Everton held them to a 1-1 draw.

The defending champions went into the game without a win in their last three games in the league.

Portugal international Bernardo Silva gave the Sky Blues a deserved lead when his effort was deflected into the net in the 14th minute.

Manchester City spurned a number of chances to extend their lead till Illiman Ndiaye’s one-touch volley in the 36th minute brought the score level.

Everton frustrated the home side by constantly closing down on them when not in possession of the ball.

Jordan Pickford became the first Premier League goalkeeper to stop Erling Haaland from scoring a penalty in the 52nd minute, as the Evertonians held on to finish the game 1-1 at the Etihad on Boxing Day 2024.
