2025 AFCON QUALIFIERS: Ghana’s prospects fade following goalless draw with Sudan

Date:

Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations are increasingly precarious following a disappointing 0-0 draw against Sudan in Accra.

The Black Stars struggled to convert several clear scoring opportunities, leaving fans frustrated and concerned about the team’s performance.

With this result, Ghana now faces a challenging road ahead to secure their place in the tournament, which they have not missed since 2004. The pressure is mounting for the squad and coaching staff to regroup and find a way to reclaim their competitive edge in the upcoming matches.

With just two points from their first three matches in the AFCON qualifiers, Ghana’s Black Stars find themselves in a must-win situation to keep their tournament hopes alive. The team’s current standing is alarming, having failed to secure victories against Angola, Niger, and Sudan, which has left them in a precarious position within their group.

During Thursday’s match, the Black Stars displayed an abundance of attacking potential, creating numerous chances throughout the game. However, a frustrating inability to finish proved costly.

Captain Mohammed Kudus, alongside teammates Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, and Fatawu Issahaku, all had clear opportunities to score but were unable to convert, resulting in a frustrating goalless draw. As the qualifiers progress, Ghana will need to refine their finishing and regroup quickly to have any chance of qualifying for the AFCON.
