Berekum Chelsea has been charged with violating Section 16 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Code, 2019, following their recent match against Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The charges arise from allegations that the club did not adequately ensure the safety of the match officials, as well as reports of inappropriate behavior from their supporters during the game. This incident occurred during a heated clash at the Berekum Golden City Park, which ended in a tense 1-1 draw. Both teams showcased strong performances, but the match was overshadowed by off-field events that have now captured the GFA’s attention.

The GFA has given Berekum Chelsea until Wednesday, October 2, 2024, to respond to the charges. The club’s management is expected to address the allegations and present any mitigating factors they believe should be taken into account.
