JUST IN: NSA Discloses GHS 900K from Baba Yara Stadium Rentals

Date:

The National Sports Authority (NSA) generated GHS 900,000 from renting out Baba Yara Stadium for non-sporting events, as revealed by NSA Board Chairman Seth Panwum.

This disclosure occurred during a session with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture, and Tourism, chaired by MP Wisdom Kobena Woyome.

During the hearing, Panwum addressed the recent disciplinary actions taken against an NSA officer responsible for renting the stadium for a church event shortly before Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

The rental arrangement resulted in considerable damage to the pitch, which ultimately led to a ban on the stadium by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Panwum’s statements come amid increasing scrutiny regarding the state of sports facilities in the country. His appearance before the committee marks the NSA as the second sports organization to provide updates, following the Sports Minister’s earlier disclosures about the expenditure of three million dollars by Ghana’s delegation at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.

This ongoing investigation highlights the critical need for accountability and proper management of national sports assets.
