The newly promoted Basake Holy Stars stunned Accra Hearts of Oak with a 0-1 victory in the opening round of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League.
Prince Tweneboah, aka Aviator or Capasuka, struck just two minutes into the game to give the newbies the lead against the not-so-mighty Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Led by their head coach, Abdul Gazale, a former assistant coach to Asante Kotoko’s Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, Holy Stars remained resolute despite the attacking onslaught of Hearts of Oak to clinch all three points.
The home fans were livid at the sound of the final whistle as they hooted and hurled insults at the players.
This defeat must awaken the sleeping giants or the season would end being a nightmare for sympathizers.
