#EURo2024: Guler stuns Georgia as Conceicao scores late winner for Portugal

Date:

In the last round of the first round of matches, Portugal had to fight hard to defeat the Czech Republic 2-1.

FC Porto’s youngster Francisco Conceicao bagged the late winner for Roberto Martinez’s side after coming on 111 seconds earlier.

Robin Hranac’s own goal for Portugal cancelled out Lukas Provod’s opener for the Czechs two minutes past the hour mark.

At Signa Iduna Park, the Turkish Messi, Arda Guler, stunned Georgia with a goal of the tournament contender in Turkey’s 3-1 victory, which sees them top Group F.

Jose Mourinho must be impressed to see his new team’s right-back net the game’s opening goal in the 25th minute before Georges Mikautadze restored parity seven minutes later.

The Real Madrid teenager, Guler, regained Turkey’s lead with a stunner before Galatasaray’s winger, Kerem Akturkoglu, passed the ball into an empty net after Georgia’s goalie, Mamardashvili, had gone up for a late corner.

In the second round of matches today, Croatia will take on Albania at 1 p.m., hosts Germany take on Hungary, and Scotland’s clash against Switzerland will round things off for the day.
