Ghana’s Next World Cup Qualifier Set for March 2025

Date:

Ghana’s Black Stars are poised to continue their journey toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup with qualification matches slated for March 2025.

Under the guidance of Coach Otto Addo, the team will confront Chad and Madagascar in pivotal fixtures that may shape their fate in Group I. Presently leading the group after securing two impressive triumphs this month, the Black Stars endured a mixed start to their campaign, recording a win and a loss in their initial matches.

Nonetheless, they revitalized their prospects with a remarkable comeback victory against Mali in Bamako last Thursday, followed by an exhilarating 4-3 triumph over the Central African Republic (CAR) in Kumasi on Monday. Jordan Ayew’s hat-trick proved decisive in the comeback victory, propelling Ghana to the summit of their group.

Despite the win, Coach Otto Addo admitted the team’s first-half struggles against CAR, acknowledging, “We faced challenges controlling the ball and creating opportunities upfront. I take responsibility. Perhaps I demanded too much, especially considering our limited training time. I made adjustments in the second half, and our victory was well-deserved.”

Ghana’s triumph over CAR prolonged their unbeaten streak at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, a stronghold for the Black Stars since 2000, granting them a notable home advantage.

With World Cup qualifiers paused, focus now shifts to the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, slated to commence later this year.
