TRAGEDY!!!: Algerian goalkeeper and coach die in bus crash

Date:

All games were postponed by the national football federation (Faf) due to the death of a player and coach from Mouloudia Club El Bayadh, a top-tier team, in a bus accident in Algeria on Wednesday night.

Goalkeeper Zakaria Bouziani, 27, and assistant coach Khalid Muftah perished in the crash, according to the nation’s official news agency.

The bus transporting the team flipped close to the city of Tiaret in northwest Algeria on Friday while the team was traveling north to Tizi Ouzou to play JS Kabylie in a league match, according to local media.

In a statement, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria expressed his “deep anguish and sorrow” upon learning of the tragedy and expressed his sympathies to the victims’ families.
