MAX UEFA CL WEDNESDAY WRAP: Newcastle finish bottom, Barca suffer shock defeat

Newcastle United finished bottom of Group F following a 1-2 home defeat to Italian giants AC Milan.

Former Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic cancelled out Joelinton’s stunning strike for the Magpies before Nigerian international Samuel Chukueze grabbed the winner five minutes before time.

At Signal Iduna Park, Paris Saint-Germain scrapped through to the round of 16 alongside Dortmund following a 1-1 draw.

FC Porto produced an emphatic 5-3 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in Group H to qualify with group leaders Barcelona, who suffered a shock 3-2 defeat in Belgium to Royal Antewerp, for the next round.

In Group E, Scottish champions Celtic claimed their first win of the 2023–24 edition of the competition following a dramatic 2-1 home win over Feyenoord, while Lazio qualified despite losing 2-0 at Wanda Metropolitan to Atletico Madrid.

Reigning champions Manchester City completed the double over Osman Bukari’s Crevna Zvezda in Group G thanks to a 2-1 win in Belgrade.

RB Leipzig’s Sesko and Forsberg scored to clinch a win for the already-qualified side, despite Young Boys pulling a goal back through Colley.
