MAX LIFESTYLE: Why use of powder on your genitals can cause cancer

Date:

Women have used powders for genital hygiene for decades to absorb odor and moisture. While rates of powder used in the genital area have declined over the last 50 years, it remains a routine practice for some women.

Commonly used products typically include talc, cornstarch, or some combination of both. Women may apply powders directly to the perineum or onto sanitary napkins, tampons, diaphragms, or underwear.

However, Dr. George Donkor of Noble Trust Herbal Hospital, speaking on the Max Morning Show, has said that “you can contract ovarian cancer when you apply a powder that contains talcum talc on your vagina.”

He went on to explain that when talcum talc absorbs into the tissues in the vagina, it can cause ovarian cancer. “The genital area has its likes and dislikes, so one of its dislikes is a powder that contains talcum talc”.

Talcum powder is made from talc. Talc is a mineral made up mainly of magnesium, silicon, and oxygen. As a powder, it absorbs moisture well and helps cut down on friction, making it useful for keeping skin dry and helping prevent rashes.
