MAX ENTERTAINMENT: Read a lot to get lyrical ideas – Raf Able

Date:

Songwriting skills are seen as an engine for music, which depicts one’s creative prowess.

Many musicians have found this essential part of music composition arduous, so they have employed or paid others to put their thoughts and emotions in a creative and meaningful way for them to add their voice to sing them.

In so doing, many write songs for the money and pay less attention to the lyrics. Some gospel music in the country is believed not to have good lyrics and has become cliche as the ideas are closely related to each other.

To avoid these cliches and poor lyrics, Highly Spiritual Music signee Raf Able has advised songwriters of gospel music to read a lot in order to get more ideas for writing the music.

According to him, writing a good gospel song is difficult, especially when arranging or putting the ideas into a contest.

Speaking in an interview on Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Friday, the urban gospel musician stated that there was a need for writers to put conscious efforts into reading for better ideas.

He said good music should be able to tell a meaningful story with rich lyrical content that could appeal to hearts, emotions, and minds.

The “Kae Me” hitmaker noted that the Bible, or the word of God, is a major source of ideas and a weapon for any writer to write a divine lyrical song that could melt hearts and heal.

He indicated that personal experiences were also an inspiration when well crafted in a meaningful way, which could make good music.
