MAX EPL: Money can’t buy success – Ten Hag warns new Man Utd owners

Date:

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has warned aspiring new owners of the Premier League club, that money is not enough to pull off success at the club.

According to Ten Hag, money is quite important but how it is spent matters most.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim are the two bidders waiting to confirm if their offers to buy the club have been successful.

Both men have also made it clear that they would be willing to invest in new players if they take over at Old Trafford.

“There is a centralization of good players, of the best managers, also of the money, and it is all here in the UK.

“That makes a great competition, but also a tough and a hard competition.

“And you have to do the right things and you can have money, but you have to do it and spend it in a smart way. And also you need a strategy behind it, because otherwise, the money doesn’t work,” Ten Hag said.

United face Chelsea on Thursday, with the Blues set to finish in the bottom half of the table despite owner Todd Boehly investing about £600million on 16 new players since his takeover at Stamford Bridge last summer.
