Jamaican sprint Asafa Powell and Ghanaian wife visit Christian Atsu’s family

Date:

On Tuesday, March 1, 2023, Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell and a few executive members of the Ghana Olympic Committee paid a visit to the home of the late Ghanaian player Christian Atsu.

Christian Atsu, a member of the Ghanaian Black Stars, lost his life in the February 6, 2023 earthquake in Turkey.

Since his passing, a number of athletes have expressed their respects to the former Newcastle star, with Asafa Powell, the fourth-fastest man in the world, being the most recent.

The sprinting champion offered the grieving family some words of comfort and promised to be there for them through this trying period.

The book of condolences for the late Ghanaian international, which has been opened, was also signed by Asafa Powell.

While the family gets ready to bury their loved one, members of the Ghana Olympic Committee, led by their president Ben Nunoo Mensah, also made a financial pledge to them.

Asafa Powell who is married to Ghanaian-American, Alyshia Akua Miller arrived in Ghana on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Asafa Powell is anticipated to make some school appearances in Ghana to encourage young athletes there.

The Jamaican’s meeting with President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has also been planned.

With a personal best time of 9.72 seconds, Asafa Powell ranks as the fourth-fastest man in history.
