2022 World Cup: ‘I don’t fear any of your critics, I’m used to this’ – Otto Addo

Date:

Otto Addo, the departing head coach of the Black Stars, has admitted that he is not afraid to face his detractors because doing so is part of the job.

Following Ghana’s elimination from the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, coach Otto Addo received criticism.

While some claimed that the coach was not on top of player selection difficulties, others said that the coach was under the sway of the Ghana FA’s senior management.

He received criticism for considering his work with the Black Stars to be part-time.

Otto Addo, who resigned as Ghana’s coach following the team’s elimination from the World Cup, spoke to the media during a news conference and said he found it difficult to comprehend why people wanted him to fail.

“I would never understand the mentality of those who think against a human to fail, and some humans are doing this, I would never understand it,” he said.

“I don’t fear any of your critics, I’m so long in the game and I’m used to this. For me, it is not a problem, I don’t fear anything, just God,” he added.

He claimed that the only time people questioned his selection of players, formation, or playing style was after the Black Stars lost a game.

“It’s easy when we lose, the first question is why did you do this and that, but when we win, no questions come against me,” he added.

After losing to Portugal and Uruguay and winning a game against South Korea, Ghana was eliminated from the 2022 World Cup.

Otto Addo opted to leave his position with the Black Stars and concentrate on his responsibilities at Borussia Dortmund.
