2022–2023 MTN FA Cup Launched : Preliminaries to begin on November 1

Date:

The preliminary round of the MTN FA Cup for the 2022–2023 season has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) secretariat.

44 Division Two clubs and 48 Division One clubs would compete in the first round of the competition against the already seeded premier league teams in the round of 64.

Mr. Prosper Harrison Addo, General Secretary of GFA, stated at the FA Cup’s announcement that it was a chance for the clubs to rub elbows with Premier League teams.

He claimed that the GFA was dedicated to making sure that the competition was officiated fairly.

Mr. Addo praised MTN Ghana for its support and for playing a part in the growth of football in the nation.

The 92 clubs that would be competing in the preliminary round were all given good wishes by the GFA General Secretary, who also urged them to give it their all in order to advance to the next stage of the competition.

The MTN FA Cup Committee Chairman, Mr. Wilson Arthur, said that this year’s competition will be more thrilling than last year’s.

As the agreement with the competition’s main sponsor, MTN, is set to expire this season, Mr. Arthur was certain the business would renew its agreement with GFA to continue serving as the competition’s primary sponsor.

On November 10, 2022, the preliminary round would come to a finish, and the round of 64 would then start.

Hearts of Oak, an Accra-based team, won the competition’s most recent iteration.
