2026 FIFA WCQ: Sierra Leone, Tunisia, CAR pick wins

Date:

The battle for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada continued in Africa as countries faced off in the qualifying rounds of matches.

In Group A, Sierra Leone earned their first win in the qualifiers. Curtis Davies and Augustus Kargbo scored for the hosts, as Gabriel Dadzie scored from the penalty spot to pull one back for the visitors, Djibouti.

Togo resumed the qualifiers with yet another draw in Group B, this time against South Sudan in Lome.

Liberia fought hard to earn a 1-1 draw with Namibia in Group H. Namibia, playing at home, drew first blood, only for Liberia to restore parity through Terry Sackor.

Mohammed Ben Romdhane converted a late penalty to hand Tunisia a difficult win over Equatorial Guinea in Tunis as they remain atop Group H.

The Central African Republic earned their first win in the qualifiers as they beat Chad 1-0 at home. Mali will face off with Ghana in Bamako on Thursday, June 6.
