President Nana Akufo-Addo has highlighted Ghana’s strides in international sports infrastructure in his final State of the Nation Address on January 3.
He cited the construction of 150 AstroTurfs, rehabilitation of stadia, and the $195 million investment in facilities like the Borteyman Sports Complex and University of Ghana Stadium.
These developments enabled Ghana to successfully host the 13th African Games in 2024, welcoming over 13,000 athletes and officials and securing 69 medals. Akufo-Addo lauded these efforts as pivotal in establishing Ghana as a hub for international sports.
