Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei has called up 35 players from Ghana Premier League clubs as part of the team’s preparations for the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The players are set to report to camp from January 3 to January 9, 2025, marking the first phase of talent evaluation.
This initial camp will allow Coach Ofei and his technical team to assess players from Ghana’s top-tier league, with a focus on identifying potential stars to form the core of the national U-20 squad. Following this phase, attention will shift to Division One clubs, with another set of players reporting to camp from January 10 to January 15 for a similar evaluation.
The multi-phase approach highlights the technical team’s determination to uncover and develop the best talents across all levels of Ghanaian football. With the 2025 U-20 AFCON scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire from April 26 to May 18, the Black Satellites are aiming to build a robust and competitive team capable of excelling on the continental stage.
Beyond the immediate goal of succeeding at the U-20 AFCON, the team also has its sights set on securing qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup. This intensive preparatory phase underscores the commitment of the technical team to assembling a squad that can compete at the highest levels of youth football, leveraging local talent to achieve success on the global stage.
