Ghana Police National Football Club, the men’s football team of the Ghana Police Service, have secured qualification to the Central Regional Division One League following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Fettehman FC on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
The tightly contested fixture ended 1-1 in regulation time at a packed venue, with fans treated to a pulsating display of football from both sides.
Despite creating several opportunities, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, as defenses stood firm and goalkeepers made crucial saves.
The deadlock was eventually broken early in the second half when Police striker Corporal Michael Gyamfi latched onto a through ball and calmly slotted it past the Fettehman FC goalkeeper to give his side the lead.
However, Fettehman responded swiftly, drawing level with a well-taken header that left the Police shot-stopper with no chance.
With the match tied at 1-1 after full time, the outcome was decided by a penalty shoot-out. Ghana Police National FC held their nerve, converting four of their spot-kicks while Fettehman FC missed two, resulting in a 4-3 victory for the law enforcers.
The win marks a significant milestone for the team, as they earn a place in the Central Regional Division One League—a key step in their journey up Ghana’s football pyramid.
