Being one of the most celebrated musicians in Ghana, the multiple award-winning rapper Black Sherif has gained the privilege of being featured in the Creative Arts and Design subject of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The question “five (c)” of Section B demanded the candidate provide a short note about Black Sherif and two other composers, Ephraim Amu and Agya Koo Nimo.
Candidates were also required to include in the short note the composer’s hometown, genre of work, and one example of his work and contribution to society.
After the question went viral, many lauded examiners for including the African rap giant Black Sherif in the question and believed that the move was a step to boost the creative art industry.
Mohammed Ismail Sherif, known privately as Black Sherif, hails from Konongo-Zongo, in the Ashanti Region.
He is noted for his singing and rapping prowess as well as his fashion, gaining popularity in 2021 with his hit song “First and Second Sermons.”
His breakthrough came in March 2022 with his hit single “Kwaku the Traveller,” which reached number one on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts.
Black Sherif proceeded to release his debut album, “The Villain I Never Was,” on October 5, 2022, cementing himself as one of the strongest music men in Africa.
Through his impressive works, he gained global recognition and was admired by many across the African continents.
